Libertyville’s Annual Tree Lighting a Rousing Success
It’s a Libertyville tradition that has been around as long as anyone can remember… and despite less-than-ideal weather, this year’s Libertyville Tree Lighting was a rousing success.
Organizer Julie Ludwig, who has been in charge of the event for the last 14 years, estimated that at least 2,000 people – maybe as many as 3,000 – turned out to see Cook Park light up when she flipped the switch.
And there was much more to the event than bright lights. Santa Claus made an appearance in front of the Ansel B. Cook house, providing a welcome photo opp for hundreds of parents.
Libertyville High School’s Jazz Band was on hand too to provide a lively musical backdrop.
The event marks the “official” beginning of the Christmas Shopping season in Libertyville… so don’t forget to support our beautiful village by “shopping local.”
